The Glacier Pastoruri tour is a captivating journey to one of the most iconic and accessible glaciers in the Cordillera Blanca, located in Huascarán National Park. The tour provides an opportunity to witness the stunning ice formations of the Pastoruri Glacier and enjoy the breathtaking high-altitude landscapes that surround it.
Itinerary
We will meet at our designated meeting point to depart from Huaraz heading south. You will pass through the towns of Recuay and Ticapampa on your way to Catac, where you can stop for a cup of coca tea. Continuing the journey, you will arrive at the Pumapampa Gasified Water Springs, where springs emanate from the depths, and the main attraction is a moderately sized spout that releases a large amount of gasified water to a height of approximately one meter.
Next, you will visit Laguna Pumapashimin, also known as the Seven Colors Spring, where locals believe the rainbow is born. Along the way, you will see the impressive Puya Raimondi plants, which are large Andean plants, as well as ancient rock paintings dating back 12,000 years.
You will then reach the base of Nevado Pastoruri. After a 45-minute to 1-hour walk at an altitude of 5,100 meters, you will enjoy views of the glacier and have the opportunity to take photographs. On the way back, you can stop in Catac for lunch. After a brief rest, you will continue your return journey to the city of Huaraz.
